The benefits of social connections have been studied for a long time. Social connections reduce stress levels, improve immune functioning, and increase self-esteem, just to name a few. One great way to build social connections around a common purpose is through board games. Research has found that board games can help with many aspects of mental health. Board games also encourage patience and enhance cognitive skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, reasoning, memory retention, and creativity.
As parents, we want our kids to have meaningful connections with other people. We know that building social connections offers so many positive benefits for our kids, and we want to get our kids plugged into groups that will build their social confidence.
As we enter summer, which is generally a time with fewer after-school activities, less structure, and more free time. It is the perfect time for a board game social connections group!
This summer, the Therapy and Wellness Collective will be running a five-week board game group for teens that will focus on building social connections and strengthening interpersonal skills. The group will play a different board game each week and will focus on improving skills related to:
Social Skills
Critical Thinking & Strategizing
Team Building, Inclusion & Respect

This group might be right for your teen if they enjoy board games and want to:
Grow and Develop Relationship Skills
Increase Self-Awareness and Social Awareness
Build Social Connection with Others

The group will meet on five Tuesdays beginning June 4th and costs $150. If you’re interested in learning more about the group check out this link, scan the QR code below or email Tyler at tyler@therapyandwellnesscollective.com
